Under the visionary leadership of its Founders and Directors, Dr. Earnest Charles J. Samuel and Dr. Annie Charles Samuel, Mount Carmel School, Chandigarh came alive with the vibrant celebrations of its 37th Annual-cum- Sports Day. The event, held on 25th November, coincided with the birthday of the esteemed Founder and Director, Dr. Annie Charles Samuel, adding a special significance to the occasion. The day was a splendid showcase of the school’s dedication to fostering physical fitness, healthy competition, and a spirit of sportsmanship.
The festivities began with a solemn invocation seeking divine blessings, followed by an impressive March Past and an enthralling performance by the School Band. The program featured a variety of sports and athletic events tailored for junior students, along with 100m, 200m races, and relays for the seniors. Former students were also present, cheering for the participants and joining in the camaraderie by competing in a tug-of-war with the current Class XII students. Teachers actively participated in races and tug-of-war competitions, further heightening the day’s excitement and fostering a strong sense of community.
The enthusiasm and determination of the participants were evident as they competed passionately, demonstrating remarkable athletic ability. The event concluded with an inspiring award ceremony, where outstanding performers were honored with medals and certificates. The Founders and Directors highlighted the broader impact of Sports Day, emphasizing how it nurtures not just physical fitness but also essential life skills like teamwork, perseverance, and discipline.
