‘Swar Udgam’ An Inter-School Classical Vocal and Geet/Gazal Competition held at Mount Carmel School, Chandigarh.

Under the aegis of the Founders and Directors Dr. Earnest Charles J. Samuel and Dr. Annie Charles Samuel, Mount Carmel School successfully hosted the Inter-School Classical Vocal and Geet/Gazal Competition on 22^nd July, 2023. The Classical Vocal Competition was conducted for classes VI to VIII and the Geet/ Gazal Competition for Classes IX & X. The event showcased the remarkable talents of students in the field of classical Vocal music and Geet/Gazal singing, adding a melodious touch to the school’s vibrant cultural calendar.

The competition witnessed enthusiastic participation from students of 26 schools from the Tri-city. The day was filled with a diverse range of performances, including Classical vocal recitals and Geet/Gazals, showcasing the versatility and depth of talent among the young participants. A distinguished panel of judges, comprising renowned musicians, Gazal experts, and vocal trainers, were tasked with evaluating the performances. The winners were felicitated with trophies and certificates, recognizing their outstanding performances and dedication to their craft.

The Founders and Directors, Dr. Earnest Charles J. Samuel and Dr. Annie Charles Samuel congratulated the winners and opined the competition served as a platform for the students to gain valuable stage experience and build lasting memories. The Principal, Dr. Parveena John Singh added that Mount Carmel School believes in providing an environment that fosters the artistic and creative talents of students. The Inter-School Classical Vocal and Geet/Gazal Competition exemplified the school’s commitment to promoting, artistic expression, and a deep appreciation for music.

• Consolation was won by Ishpreet Kaur from AKSIP, Chandigarh.
• Khushi Sharma from Ankur School, Chandigarh got the Third Prize.
• Mannat Bhargava from Kundan International School, Chandigarh bagged the Second Prize.
• Tanishka Matharoo from YPS Mohali won the First Prize in this category

HINDUSTANI CLASSICAL VOCAL WINNERS

• Consolation was won by Falguni Paliwal from Divya Public School, Chandigarh.
• Likhit A Vishwakarma from Satluj Public School, Panchkula got the Third Prize.
• Ananya Dutt Sharma from Ishwar Singh Dev Samaj Sr School, Chandigarh bagged the Second Prize.
• Padmakar Kashyap from DAV School, Sector 15 Chandigarh won the First Prize in this category
