Banning of items made up of Single Use Plastic

Dear Parents / Guardian,
Warm Greetings!

As we all are aware of the fact that just like polythene/plastic carry bags, single use items
made up of plastic, Styrofoam or thermocol are equally harmful to the environment.
Single-use plastics often also referred to as disposable plastics (use-and-throw items), are
commonly used for packaging and include items intended to be used only once before
they are thrown away. Single-use plastic items are difficult to recycle and can take upto
500 – 1000 years to degrade, contaminating our soil and water. The toxic chemicals used
to manufacture plastic get transferred to animal tissue, eventually entering the human food
chain. Styrofoam contains carcinogenic chemicals like styrene and benzene.

In view of the above, the School authorities have decided to strictly implement the ban on
use of items made up of Single Use Plastic to make our School ‘No Single Use Plastic
Zone’, with immediate effect. We seek your cooperation in the successful implementation
of this initiative, which is a humble step towards the conservation of environment and our
mother Earth.
