‘Swar Udgam’, An Inter School Hindustani Classical Vocal & Geet / Gazal Competition At Mount Carmel School, Chandigarh.

Under the aegis of the founder Directors of Mount Carmel School, Sector 47-B, Chandigarh,   ‘SWAR UDGAM’, an Inter School Hindustani Classical Vocal & Geet / Gazal Competition was organized by Mount Carmel School, Sector 47-B, Chandigarh in the School premises on

21-07-2018. The Classical Vocal Competition was conducted for students of classes VI to VIII and the Geet / Gazal Competition was conducted for students of classes IX & X.  Students from 21 Schools of the Tricity and adjoining areas participated in this competition. The day’s programme started with a Welcome Speech by Jinsa Elizabeth George, the Head Girl of the School. After this the students of the participating Schools presented their items for the competition. Yaman, Shudh Sarang, Bhopali, Bhairav & Madhuvanti  were some of the Ragas on which the participants sang. In the end the host School presented a song as a host presentation which was not part of the competition as per the policy of the School, followed by the felicitation of the Judges by the Principal of the School, Dr. Parveena John Singh.

Mr. Vinod Pawar , Mr. Amit Gangani & Mr. Shamas Tabresi, renowned Music Directors, were the Judges for this Competition. Prizes to the winning Schools were given by Dr. Charles Samuel & Dr. Annie Charles Samuel, the Directors of the School.  They congratulated the students for showing interest in Classical music and the Teachers for supporting them especially in this age when many youngsters are losing their interest in Classical music.

The programme concluded with a Vote of Thanks proposed by Rose Chugh, the English Club Leader of the School followed by the National Anthem.
