INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATION AT MOUNT CARMEL SCHOOL, CHANDIGARH.

The 75th Independence Day was celebrated with a great patriotic fervor at Mount Carmel School, Sector 47-B, Chandigarh, on August 15, 2022. The day started with a welcome speech by Jeena Mariam George, the Head Girl of the School. The Principal of the School, Dr. Parveena John Singh then hoisted the National Flag. After this the School choir led the students, teachers and other staff members of the School present on this occasion, in singing the National Anthem. The Principal then took salute of an impressive March Past by the contingents of the four Houses and colorful Band of the School led by the School Cabinet members.  This was followed by speeches on Independence Day by Mount Carmelites, in which freedom fighters of our country were remembered. Then the students of Classes III to V & VI to X of the School presented dances on patriotic songs. This was followed by patriotic poems by the students of the School. The student members of the English Dramatics Club & Hindi Dramatics Club of the School then presented skits highlighting the essence of Independence, our duties and the sacrifices made by our great freedom fighters.

Greeting the Students, the Founder and Directors, Dr. Earnest Charles J Samuel and Dr. Annie Charles, quoting Netaji, ‘ One individual may die for an idea; but that idea will, after his death incarnate itself in thousand lives’, reiterated in their message, reminding the students as the young, dynamic and energetic brigade of today, to take pride in belonging to the largest democracy, not to forget their identity as Indians, therefore, feel obligated towards their motherland and dedicate their services and life for the progress of the nation as responsible citizens.

Dr. Parveena John Singh, Principal of the School  spoke on this occasion on the importance of being people of integrity and how everyone needs to be free from the clutches of evil with which we have bound ourselves and be careful not to misuse the freedom that we have been given. The Principal also stressed upon being highly responsible citizens of India to lead and safeguard this democratic and secular nation. This freedom is priceless and we should never fail to value it and always preserve it wholeheartedly.

The programme concluded with a Vote of Thanks by Vansh Rajpal, the Head Boy of the School and then the National Anthem.
