The N.S.S. Special Camp commenced at Mount Carmel School, Chandigarh, on September 29th, with the approval of the N.S.S. Department, U.T. Chandigarh, and the blessings of the school’s esteemed Founders and Directors, Dr. Earnest Charles J. Samuel and Dr. Annie Charles Samuel, along with the guidance of the Principal, Dr. Parveena John Singh.
The day began with Prayer, the NSS Pledge, Warm-Up Exercises, and a Self-Defense Training session, which equipped students with confidence and practical skills for their personal safety.
Later, the NSS volunteers visited the adopted village, where they actively participated in a Swachhta Campaign. To spread environmental awareness, the students organized a Rally on “Clean & Green Diwali” and contributed to community welfare by donating diyas and saplings, reinforcing the message of eco-friendly celebrations.
As part of the camp, the SMC and SDMC organized awareness programmes for students, parents, and local residents about the school’s Swachhata Action Plan under the Samagra Shiksha scheme. A meeting of the Bal Sansad/School Cabinet was also convened to discuss Swachhata Pakhwada activities. Community members and students shared valuable suggestions such as plastic-free campaigns, hygiene awareness drives, and cleanliness competitions. These suggestions were later forwarded to DoSEL, MoE, further strengthening collective efforts towards cleanliness.
In the afternoon, a Workshop on Financial Literacy was conducted by Prof. Dr. Vikram Khanna, which provided the participants with valuable knowledge on money management, savings, and responsible financial planning.
The day concluded with lunch, bringing together a meaningful blend of physical fitness, social service, awareness, and skill-building.
