Theme : HEALTH, HYGIENE AND CLEANLINESS

The N.S.S. Special Camp commenced at Mount Carmel School, Chandigarh, on September 24th, following approval from the N.S.S. Department, U.T. Chandigarh, and the school’s esteemed Founders and Directors, Dr. Earnest Charles J. Samuel and Dr. Annie Charles Samuel, as well as the Principal, Dr. Parveena John Singh.

The day began with a Prayer, NSS Pledge, and Warm-up Exercises, instilling discipline and team spirit among the volunteers. This was followed by an enlightening session on Self-Defense Training conducted by the Chandigarh Police under the ‘Swayam’ Programme, which empowered students with confidence and practical techniques for their safety.

The Swachhata Participation Day was observed. To mark the occasion, a variety of competitions were held, including essay writing, slogan writing, elocution, quiz, painting, and skit competitions. Students participated with great enthusiasm and showcased their creativity and awareness towards cleanliness.

The activities highlighted the importance of clean and well-maintained premises, hygienic toilets, and healthy practices in daily life. The programme not only spread awareness but also motivated students to adopt cleanliness and hygiene as lifelong habits.

The students and staff shared a healthy meal, reinforcing the importance of hygiene and community bonding.

Overall, the first day of the NSS Special Camp was a great success and set a positive tone for the upcoming activities.
